2000's article 1; Stronger

Since we have reached the 2500 views and I have uploaded 200 songs, I am going to write something about some 00's songs. I will do this once or twice a week, to give you a good impression of the 00's!

I want to portray the 00's based on a theme and this time the theme is 'Stronger'

Not only did Kanye West make a song about it (which was originally made by Daft punk) also Christina Aguilera broached the topic with her song 'Fighter'. And that's not all. Amy Winehouse made song which is called 'Stronger than me', Britney Spears also had a song called 'Stronger' and The Sugababes followed Britney with their interpretation of the word.

So could we say being strong was important? Or becoming stronger by experience was? Or where there just a lot of heartbreaks? 

Kanye's version was more of the brag and boast kinda type, with lyrics such as:

Let’s get lost tonight
You could be my black Kate Moss tonight
Play secretary I'm the boss tonight
And you don't give a f*** what they all say, right

Daft Punk's version doesn't have a lot of words but they dó have a message within their song. They're saying that because of the work that will never be done, you have to work harder, make it better, do it faster, in order to become stronger. So work will make you stronger eventually.

In Christina Aguilera's version her ex made her much stronger. So the more common thing plays an important role, the breakup. And here it is also sort of about working harder

Makes me work a little bit harder

So thanks for making me a fighter
On the other hand is Amy Winehouse singing that she wants her man to live up to his role and be the man, be stronger. And let's face it, that is exactly what she needed. So instead of the singer who wants or needs to be stronger, here it's about the partner of the singer.

Don't you know you supposed to be the man?
Not pale in comparison to who you think I am

Britney Spears sings about regaining her confidence and not being lonely anymore, singing that she is perfectly able to be on her own. A really powerful song where being stronger has a different meaning because she is not singing that she is thát much stronger, she is just stronger than yesterday.

I am stronger

And last but not least, The Sugababes. They're singing about looking for a new powerful me who is feeling good. 

I'm all alone and finally I'm getting stronger
You'll come to see just what I can be
I'm getting stronger

So I think we can conclude that:The main reason for being stronger is a break up or when something terrible happend. 
The main thing to do if you want to be stronger is to work harder.
And it was (and still is) very important in the 00's to be a strong and independent person.
